Hallo ,
This week, I’d like to share a piece of my story with you and, in doing so, invite you to think about your own.
I almost missed it.
I’ve always had a knack for making complex subjects feel simple and accessible—and my career in training, communications and marketing has fine-tuned this skill. For a long time, though, I thought this ability was just something anyone could do—nothing unique or special.
That changed when I began documenting and sharing my family’s stories. I saw how my approach brought clarity and connection to memories that had long felt scattered or overwhelming. I was able to handle difficult, emotional subjects—a common theme in every family—with a unique combination of matter-of-factness and empathy.
I realized that I didn’t just have a unique combination of skills; I had a gift. And at that point, it became my purpose.
I would use this gift to help:
- families find unity in their own stories, discovering shared values and traditions that bring them closer and deepen their bond
- couples strengthen their relationship, by capturing shared histories and future plans in a way that builds trust and connection
- individuals cope with loss and change, preserving memories of loved ones and honoring their legacies in ways that bring comfort and peace
I came to understand that my work wasn’t just about sharing stories—it was about connecting people to their heritage in a way that brings deeper satisfaction and meaning to their lives today. It’s storytelling with purpose.
What’s your family’s story?
If you’re reading this and thinking about your own family stories, this is a gentle nudge to keep going. Take a moment to reflect on your unique history. It may be rich with tradition, filled with laughter and complexity, or scattered across locations and generations.
Here are a few questions to consider as you explore your family’s story:
- What memories or values do you hope your family carries forward?
- Are there moments or stories that capture the essence of who you are?
- What family traditions or milestones feel especially meaningful to you?
You may not have immediate answers, but these questions can be a lovely starting point for thinking about what makes your family’s story worth preserving.
I don’t want you to miss it.
And that’s why I share this story with you—not only as a glimpse into my journey but as an invitation to begin yours. Preserving your family’s legacy can bring your family closer, renew your sense of connection, and often, even heal parts of the past.
So as you move through your week, keep these reflections in the back of your mind. Consider asking a loved one about a memory they cherish or take a moment to write down something that makes your family story uniquely yours.
Auf Wiedersehen,
Sara
P.S. , if you have any thoughts to share or memories sparked by these reflections, I’d love to hear them! Learning more about your family would brighten my week!
